Everybody loves the story of The Rainbow Fish with its wonderful message of friendship and belonging. This musical features a variety of charming school and sea-creature characters who admire the famous Rainbow Fish, the most beautiful fish in the ocean. When Rainbow Fish refuses to share the vibrant, shimmering scales, the whole ocean seems to turn against the vain creature. Unhappy that no one adores it anymore, the Rainbow Fish seeks out the wise Octopus, who helps the young fish learn that it is far better to be admired for being kind than for being beautiful. With bubbly, energetic songs to support the script, the universal message at the heart of this one-of-a-kind musical becomes more than just a simple children’s story.
This production is a result of the KIDZ Summer Camp held at the Huber that is directed by Julie Hall, produced by Chris Feichter, assisted by 3 adults and 5 young adults and staffed by 15 interns. This year 48 participants ages 6-12 from 13 schools and 7 area counties have produced this show in 6 days of camp. Activities included auditioning, rehearsing, costuming, set/props preparation, learning music and choreography as well as some fun and games to learn the history of the Huber and stage terminology.
The performance is on June 15 @ 7:00 p.m. at the Huber. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and seating is first come, first serve. A free will offering will be accepted.
