On July 3, a resident reported that he got into an altercation with a local business. The officer found there was no violence or anything serious.
On July 5, Antwerp PD assisted Paulding County Job and Family Services with the removal of a child from a residence on E River St.
On July 7, while on patrol an officer saw a vehicle that did not have a license plate. The driver was cited for not having the vehicle registered.
On July 8, an officer assisted the Antwerp EMS on E River St.
On July 10, a vehicle was stopped on E River St. for exceeding the posted speed limit. The driver was citied for the speed violation and no driver’s license.
On July 11, a Job and Family Services investigator contacted the police department and found that an elderly female had her identity stolen, opened an account and spent $48,000. The Antwerp police determined that this individual did not live in the village and referred them to the Paulding Sheriff’s Office.
On July 11, the Maumee Police department made a request for records for nine individuals. The record checks were conducted and provided.
On July 11, a resident reported that he may have been scammed. He received a notice from the BMV that there had been changes made to his driver’s identification. The officer investigated and found the resident had been to the BMV in June and made changes to the licensed address and the BMV mailed a confirmation to the address that changes had been made.
On July 12, a resident from Washington St called and reported that her neighborhood has too many cats. It was explained the village has an ordinance that cats must be inside your home and cannot stay outside. A person cannot feed cats outside.
On July 12, a resident of Woodland Drive reported there was a dark grey Dodge going door to door soliciting for roof jobs. The officer responded and patrolled the area but could not locate the individual or vehicle. It is a violation of Antwerp to solicit without a village issued permit in the city limits.
On July 12, it was reported that a fifteen year old juvenile female was walking on the sidewalk of River Street. A 40 year old male construction worker and others started calling to her and asking her to come over to where he was. She continued to walk and he continued to invite her. Later she was walking back from the other direction and he called to her again. He then began driving and following her and calling to her. Officers investigated the situation and found the construction workers. The 40 year old individual admitted to soliciting the juvenile. When the officer confronted the workers with the fact that she was only 15 and looked very young, the foreman interjected saying, “with the way the young girls dress and act these days, they are asking for it.” The officer let him know how improper this was to treat the young girl this way. A report was prepared and forwarded to the Paulding County Prosecutor for charges.
On July 12, a resident of Fort Wayne reported that he was at a business on South Erie St and while there someone had taken a key and scratched his car. The case was investigated and it was found the ex-girlfriend scratched the car, and also revealed she owned the vehicle. No charges were filed.
On July 13, a resident came to the police department and asked if they needed a zoning permit to put in a driveway. The police contacted the Village Administrator and he said he didn’t need a permit.
On July 13, a resident of Leinard Mobile Park called the Police and asked why she didn’t have any water. The police responded that the village was fixing a broken water line and recommended she check the village web site for the current status.
On July 13, a resident of Frank Leinard’s Mobile Home Park reported that she believed someone had siphoned 1/2 of a tank of gas from her vehicle. Officer investigated the vehicle and talked with neighbors and could not determine a finding.
On July 15, a business reported vehicles parked in front of businesses for over 4 hours. Parking is only allowed for 2 hours on Main St in front of business. When the officer arrived the vehicles had been moved.
On July 15, a resident of South Erie St. reported that 3 men in a white car said his music was awful. The complainant was afraid that he was going to be assaulted. Officers were not able to located the vehicle.
On July 15, a suspicious vehicle was setting in the corner of the Antwerp Community Church parking lot. The officer investigated and found the driver had become sleepy along the highway and pulled off to rest.
On July 17, a resident of East River St reported that his girlfriend had taken off and he was concerned for her well-being. Officers had located her at a friend’s house. There had been an argument but everything was now fine.
On July 17, a resident of Maple Street reported that she believed her neighbor’s house had been broken into. The police inspected and found the house had not been broken into and everything seemed fine.
July 18, a vehicle was stopped on South Erie St. The driver was cited for speed violation and no drivers license.
