PAYNE, OH:
Irene Faye Benschneider, 75, of Payne, Ohio, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center after a battle with cancer. Irene was born March 13, 1948, to the late Norbert and Linda (Marbach) Brenneke. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who always put others before herself and was eager to help friends and family. Her humble heart never wanted to be recognized for the love, care, and support that she gave to others. Irene loved spoiling and baking with her grandkids, which sometimes included having dessert for breakfast after sleep overs. She enjoyed a good road trip and spending time at craft shows, both selling her creations and shopping for unique finds. Irene worked for the John Deere store in Woodburn for over 30 years. In her retirement, Irene volunteered her time at The Rock Youth Center in Payne.
Irene is survived by her children: Kim (Mike) Wietfeldt of New Haven, IN, Todd (Carla)
Benschneider of Tampa, FL, and Chad Benschneider of Payne; brothers: Lloyd (Sharon) Brenneke of Hoagland, IN, Bruce (Jamie) Brenneke of Woodburn, IN; sister-in-laws: Ruth Brenneke of Antwerp, OH, Karol Poth of Maumee, OH; brother-in-law: Richard Helmke of Sandwich, IL; grandchildren: Abby (Bryce) McCoy, Zack (Megan) Wietfeldt, Mirayda Gurtekin, and Chloe Benschneider; great-grandchild Baby McCoy who will be arriving in October; special friend, Earl Huebner of Antwerp and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by siblings Roger Brenneke, Phyllis Helmke, and Mark Brenneke.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 OH 500, Payne, with viewing beginning at 9 a.m.
Viewing will also be at Dooley Funeral Home Friday, August 25, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial in Wiltsie Cemetery.
