This past Monday, August 28th, the Paulding FFA Chapter held its first meeting of the 2023-2024 school year.
The kickoff meeting included both FFA members and their parents, so they could learn a little more about FFA from the advisors and the officer team. At this meeting, there were over 200 members and parents in attendance along with many FFA Alumni members.
First, everyone enjoyed sausage sandwiches prepared by Alumni members. This year the officers decided to have a more non-traditional meeting to make it more hands-on and exciting. The FFA advisors, Mrs. Staci Miller and Mrs. Jen Bradford explained how agriculture education is made up of three parts: Classroom instruction, SAE (supervised agricultural experience), and FFA. They also reviewed this year’s busy schedule of FFA events that members can participate in.
Then the FFA officers discussed CDEs (career development events) and the many opportunities these contests offer. The officer team was split up into different stations so everyone could walk around and see what all FFA has to offer. The members and parents could engage in sample activities to see what CDEs entailed such as tasting triangles for food science and fuels ID for outdoor power.
At the end, the alumni talked to everyone about how to get involved, such as the sausage stand, and how to join their organization.
This meeting provided an excellent opportunity for parents and students to better know this year’s officers and advisors. Overall, the meeting was a very successful meeting and the Paulding FFA is ready for the exciting year of FFA events to begin!
