Recently, the Payne Chamber of Commerce welcomed a new business to the Payne business community. Smitty’s Outfitters is located in downtown Payne out of their home — for now — as they get themselves grounded in the business.

“Our family has a great love for the outdoors. We love to travel to the various State Parks that Ohio has to offer and explore the different trails and waterways. Our biggest drive for Smitty’s though is our 14 year old daughter who is diagnosed with Autism and Epilepsy. She also loves the great outdoors and we want to create a future for her that involves the things she loves. Our hope for Smitty’s is that it continues to grow and we can secure a future for her and employment for our daughter.
“Smitty’s is an offsite outfitter. We rent kayaks, canoes, and tents that renters can commute anywhere in the state of Ohio. We want people to be able to enjoy the great outdoors without having to worry about a time restraint. Onsite outfitters have a start and end time, and on many trips in the past we felt rushed to meet that time resulting in the loss of relaxation and taking in the scenery. With Smitty’s, we are a 24-hour rental. A customer can schedule a pickup and return time within a 24 hour period. You must be 21 years or older to rent or be accompanied by someone over the age of 21.”
“If interested in using Smitty’s Outfitters’ services, you can contact them by messenger on their Facebook page. Simply schedule the pick up time you need and at time of pick up you will then select the boat you want to use. All renters including minors sign a liability waiver and all valid IDs are scanned for Smitty’s records. Smitty’s will then help you load and strap boats down, and then schedule your return time. When boats are returned, Smitty’s helps with unloading. All boats, life jackets, and oars are sanitized and air dried. There are also waterproof phone case with lanyards and paradors bracelets equipped with compass and fire starter. “
