Angela Schroeder, NP, has joined the Parkview Physicians Group (PPG) – Pediatrics office in Auburn and has begun welcoming patients at her office, 1310 E. 7th St.
“Angela already got to know Auburn during her NP training, so we are very pleased to have her taking care of individuals and families in the Auburn/DeKalb County community on a more permanent basis now,” said Tasha Eicher, market president, Parkview Health Northeast/Ohio. “Her experience and her true commitment to advocating for the health needs of children will make her a strong ally and resource for patients and their families.”
Schroeder completed her master’s degree (Family Nurse Practitioner) through Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN), beginning her studies with Manchester College and graduating from Goshen College.
She is a member of the Coalition of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses of Indiana and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
A native of Goshen, Schroeder moved to Fort Wayne to join the nursing team at Parkview as a registered nurse in 2012, working first as a bedside nurse with a variety of patients in the medical/surgical area, and later earning her inpatient OB certification and serving as a labor-and-delivery nurse in obstetrics.
During her nurse practitioner training, she served OB and pediatric patients in multiple healthcare settings, including PPG – OB/GYN, PPG – Pediatrics in Auburn and St. Martin’s Healthcare. Schroeder said it was while she was completing her clinicals at the PPG – Pediatrics office that she discovered her passion for providing care and education to children and their families/caregivers.
“Healthcare is so important,” she said. “I think it is crucial that we teach young people – and their caregivers – to understand how their bodies function.”
While she enjoys working with pediatric patients from birth to age 18, Schroeder notes that providing care for newborns is a favorite activity. Eight years in labor and delivery have equipped her well to provide newborn assessments.
That trust is essential, Schroeder noted.
“I strive to provide patient-centered care, and I would like my patients’ caregivers to know that I hear them, that their concerns and questions about their children are valid,” she said. “Well-child checks provide a perfect opportunity to talk through those questions so I can provide guidance. In addition, I want children and teens to feel safe coming in to the office – to know that I will listen to their needs. My goal is to empower these individuals to know how strong they are and that their bodies belong to them.”
Outside of work, Schroeder enjoys savoring a good cup of coffee, thrift shopping, baking, coloring, and organizing. She and her husband, Luke, have six children, and they love to spend time at the lake, play board games and watch movies together.
