PAULDING, OH:
Rae Janiece McMichael, 93, of Paulding, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Paulding County Hospital.
Rae was born in Antwerp, Ohio on March 7, 1930, a daughter of the late Florence A (Zuber) and Wilbur E Hopkins.
As a child, Rae grew up on her family farm and was a majorette in the Cecil, Ohio Band. Although Rae worked at Dana Weatherhead for 26 years, the love of her family was most important to her. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed her flowers and gardening. Rae cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. After raising seven children, she got the precious opportunity to see her family flourish and grow. A family that anxiously awaited her homemade popcorn balls at Christmas each year.
Rae will be sadly missed by her children, Susie (Jim) Pessefall, Tana (Steve) Tracy, Bobby (Colleen) McMichael, Jon McMichael, Kim (Diane) McMichael, Tony McMichael & Lisa McMichael; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren, with number 29 expected in February and 8 great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert McMichael and siblings, Eva Helen Shaw, Isabel Parent, Gertrude Houser, Rex “Bud” Hopkins and Ruby Bickhard.
Rae’s memorial service is Saturday, November 11th, 11 am with visitation one hour prior at First Presbyterian Church, 126 W. River Street, Antwerp, Ohio.
She will be laid to rest privately in Bethel Cemetery, Crane Township.
