High Limit Acquires All Stars
Many of us that follow Sprint Car racing were shocked to hear that the High Limit Sprint Car Series, owned by Kyle Larson and Brad Sweet, has finalized the acquisition of the All Star Circuit of Champions from Tony Stewart. Effective immediately, NASCAR Cup champion Kyle Larson and four-time World of Outlaws Sprint Cars champion Brad Sweet have taken ownership of the 410 Sprint Car series owned by three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and Eldora Speedway owner Tony Stewart.
Stewart purchased the All Star Circuit of Champions in 2015. He became the fourth different owner since the series’ creation in 1970, Stewart helped the series grow with more races in different states and tracks, increasing purses for its teams and raising the series visibility by partnering with FloRacing in 2020. Tony was quoted saying “The time is right to pass the torch to Kyle and Brad. I have had many conversations with them both on their overall vision for 410 racing and I am confident that with their leadership, the sport will continue to thrive into the foreseeable future”.
In 2023, Kyle Larson and Brad Sweet formed the High Limit Sprint Car Series with a schedule that featured 12 midweek events with larger than normal payouts. This brought the biggest names in Sprint Car racing to their events. Their goal is to elevate Sprint Car racing and turn their passion for the sport into a positive for fans, drivers, teams, and racetracks. Sprint Car fans are wondering if now this will develop into a larger battle going up against the World of Outlaws. Larson and Sweet both race in that series. Kyle Larson just won the High Limit season Championship. As we go to press this week the World of Outlaws are having their World Finals at the Dirt Track in Charlotte. Brad Sweet is on top of the point standing going into this final racing weekend with only a 50-point lead over 2nd place David Gravel and a 140-point lead over Carson Macedo. In 2nd place, Gravel is in a great spot if Sweet slips up.
Lewis Win Championship
Last weekend 28 Sprint cars were in the pits and fans braved the low temperatures. The Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series closed out their 2023 season at Waynesfield Raceway Park. Point leader Ricky Lewis already had the championship wrapped up but he flew back from the West Coast to race anyway. He made series history, scoring his sixth win of the season in the series and 17th win of the year. It was also his third in three starts at Waynesfield Raceway Park. Max Adams set overall fast time with a 13.121 second lap around the quarter mile oval. Dustin Ingle, Chance Crum, and Ricky Lewis won the 3 preliminary heat races. Your feature winner and BOSS 2023 Champion is Ricky Lewis and rounding out the top-5 was Matt Westfall, Korbyn Hayslett, Sterling Cling, and Jadon Rogers.
Other winners on the final night of racing at Waynesfield Raceway Park for 2023. The UMP Modified feature was won by Brian Ruhlman, Jeff Koz and Brandon Vaughan. Rolly Heyder won the Dirt Truck A-main followed by Phil Hicks and Chris Bitters. Dayton’s Matt Freeman won the Sport Compact feature followed by Ryan Okuley and Brian Mullins.
Weather permitting, Montpelier Speedway in Indiana will close out their season this weekend as we go to press. Until next week, keep your wheels down. Ron out!
