Army veteran and Antwerp native, Stacey Sweet, shown here with his wife Kylie, was the winner of this quilt. At the recent Veteran’s Day program at Hicksville schools, Sweet was the veteran who traveled the farthest to attend the event. Coming from their home in Old Town, FL, Sweet was one of over 90 veterans in attendance who were honored for serving their country.
Students and faculty were all involved in the program; breakfast was served, music was performed, and videos were presented. Veterans from all branches of service were recognized. Guest speaker was Master Sergeant (E-7) Carr of the Ohio National Guard. The program is an annual event at the school and much appreciated by those being honored. Piecemakers Quilt Group of Hicksville (a 501(c)3 organization) made and donated the patriotic-themed quilt.
