CONTINENTAL – Visiting Antwerp improved to 3-0 on the season as the Archers posted a 57-40 win over Continental in non-league boys basketball action Saturday.
The Archers took a 15-6 lead following eight minutes of action in the contest before adding to the margin in the second quarter. Antwerp picked up 16 points in the second stanza compared to 13 for the Pirates, widening the gap to 31-21 at the halfway point of the game.
Antwerp put the game away in the third quarter with an 18-point outburst as Continental scored just ten for a 49-29 Archer lead entering the final stanza.
Zaine McMichael scored 23 points to lead the way for the Archers with Landon Brewer also reaching double figures with 15 points.
Also finding the scoring column for the blue and white were Reid Lichty (five), Aiden Lichty (four), Carson Altimus (four), Syris Gale (two), Ben Savina (two) and Camden Fuller (two).
Jonathan Etter scored 15 points and Monty Rayle added 13 to lead the Pirates while Carson Etter posted six markers. Quinn Tegenkamp and Tyson Clementz chipped in three points apiece for Continental.
Antwerp’s junior varsity also was victorious, defeating the Pirates 47-20.
