Penny For Your Thoughts By: Nancy Whitaker
I don’t want to stay in, but I don’t want to go out; I don’t want to bake, cook, or deep fry, but I really don’t want to eat; I don’t want to play the piano and I don’t want to listen to music; I don’t want to watch TV; don’t want to take a walk or go to the park; don’t want to go to the movies, but I might want to see one; I don’t want to curl my hair, but don’t want it straight; I don’t want any coffee, tea or hot chocolate, but a donut may be good; I don’t want to read, write or do a puzzle; so, I really do not know what I want, where it is, or how to get it….
Sometimes we can sit and just stay home and think. I think of what to eat for supper, what to wear to a gig, what’s the weather doing, who died, and who got arrested.
I see sad news about abandoned animals, sick children, wars, drugs and murders. I think of mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers and I wonder what everyone is doing.
Sometimes my thoughts run rampant and I think about those with no food, home or shelter. My heart goes out to all who are living sadly from one meal to the next.
With a caring heart and a humble mind, I realize that I do have what I need. We can say that we need something or want something. Of course I want to win the lottery but I have to buy a ticket first. I want to go on a cruise, but I hate water and would probably get sea sick.
So I don’t know exactly what I want, but I do know that every single person and every living creature needs love. Love from our mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers.
We need to know that love from family and , friends and know about the Love of God.
I may want this or that or that or this, but so thankful my needs are being met.
Do you know everything you want? I do and I don’t. So back to square one. If you know that you want, when you want it or what it is, let me know and I’ll give you a Penny for Your Thoughts.
