Sherwood Mayor and retired science teacher Dave Weaner will pay a visit to Sherwood Branch Library, 117 N. Harrison St., on March 11 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. to give a special presentation on the Great American Eclipse.
The April 8 eclipse will be the last total solar eclipse visible in the contiguous United States until Aug. 23, 2044.
Weaner has more than four decades of experience in science education, including 35 years teaching at Westerville North High School in Westerville, OH. He earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University, and his master’s degree in teaching and learning from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He has traveled to two total eclipses and three annular eclipses while practicing his photography hobby.
In addition to the presentation, attendees can take part in a pair of eclipse-related craft activities, while supplies last. The event is free and open to all ages. No registration is needed. The first 10 families who arrive will receive a free pair of eclipse-viewing glasses.
