For the second year in a row, heavy rains forced Attica Raceway Park to cancel their opening night, Friday, March 15th. The track was ready to go Wednesday but rains throughout Thursday with a forecast of more rain and temperatures dropping to the upper 30s for Friday. “We just would not have any significant drying time,” said Justin Liskai, Director of Operations at Attica Raceway Park.

Attica Raceway Park will try again this Friday, March 22 on Advanced Drainage Systems Night featuring the Callies Performance Products 410 Sprints, Dirt Nerds powered by Propane UMP Late Models and the Fremont Fence 305 Sprints in action.

Young driver honors his Papa.

This week I would like to recognize Quarter Midget driver Jacob Bonafield. He races an Army car designed after a Mutt Jeep as a tribute/memorial to his grandfather, Specialist 4th Class Gregory Bonafield. He served in the 3rd Army 1st Logistics Group towards the end of the Vietnam conflict. He was a driver for various officers throughout his time overseas. He was an avid member of the American legion and the other Veterans’ organizations. Jacob requested to run this car again this year as a memorial for his papa. The car won the NWOQMRA Lt160 championship in 2023 and finished 2nd in overall points in the Quad Cities series in 2023 in Lt.160.

Until next week, keep your wheels down. Ron out! ohiosportsblitz@yahoo.com/
