Veteran Late Model ace Hudson O’Neal left MRRI for personal reasons that he wouldn’t disclose. He was happy with everything he was able to accomplish racing for Rocket1last year. He currently has no future plans. Hudson hopes to be back on the track soon. He has lined up a temporary deal for this weekend for the 2 Lucas Oil races at Atomic and Brownstown.

This week it was announced The Valvoline Rocket1 Racing team welcomed three-time national champion Tim McCreadie as the new house car driver to replace Hudson O’Neal. Tim McCreadie has years of experience, Lucas Oil and World of Outlaws Championships under his belt and a long history of winning marquee events, Tim brings the tenacity and grit needed to carry the legacy of Rocket1 forward. He will make his debut this weekend with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Atomic Speedway on Friday, March 22 and at Brownstown Speedway on Saturday, March 23.

Flat Rock Speedway is set to open its gates on May 4th. For the first time there will be four divisions to compete on opening day. The Moran Chevrolet ARCA Outlaw Super Late Models, DTS Drive Train Specialists ARCA Street Stocks, R&M Recycling ARCA Figure 8s and the NEW ARCA Factory Stock 500 Series will make its debut on opening day. The Factory Stock 500 Series will be interesting and should get the interest of the fans this summer. The Factory Stock 500 Series, a group of 5-100 lap contests; four events at Flat Rock Speedway and a single 100 lap sprint at Toledo Speedway. Each of these 5 races will be run under the Enduro style race format.

For the first time, the point system for the five Enduro races and the standard Factory Stock races will be combined to determine the overall ARCA Factory Stock/Enduro champion.  In addition, a separate point system will be in place to crown the Factory Stock 500 champion for that 5-race series. In all, the ARCA Factory Stock/Enduro division will have 14 championship point races between the two tracks.

The 2nd race of the season at Flat Rock will be May 11th and will feature the Figure 8 Cars. They will run the Motor City Madness 50 lap race. Joining the R&M Recycling ARCA Figure 8’s will be the Moran Chevrolet ARCA Outlaw Super Late Models, DTS Drive Train Specialists ARCA Street Stocks.

Next week I will have a recap of opening weekend at the Indianapolis Sportsdrome. March 22nd and 23rd they hosted the 58th Annual Mid-Western Jake’s Outlaw Figure 8 Weekend. The 75-lap race for the Outlaw Figure 8’s will be Saturday and the perfect way to open the 2024 season.
