A quick thank you for all the prayers and well wishes I received. The heart valve replacement was successful and hopefully up next will be my long awaited kidney transplant when I’m called.
Attica Was Washed Out
This past Friday once again Attica Raceway Park tried to get a full night of racing but unfortunately mother nature had a different idea. The 410 Winged sprints were off. After a lengthy delay getting the night started because of rain, all the heats for the UMP Late Models, Fremont Fence 305 Sprints and the Fremont dirt trucks were run. Then another batch of rain fell. The late models and 305 sprints will run make-up features at yet-to-be-determined dates. The total purse for the trucks was split evenly among the 16 competitors.
Two In A Row:
This past weekend Kody Swanson won his second straight USAC Silver Crown Series Race and recorded his 5th Rich Vogler Classic victory. First Toledo and now Winchester Speedway, the world’s fastest half mile paved oval.
After extending his record as the driver with the most poles in series history to 49, Swanson led all 100 laps of Sunday’s 33rd annual Rich Vogler Classic to post a whopping 5.554-second victory over Bobby Santos III. Swanson, a seven-time USAC Silver Crown champion, also extended his record as the driver with the most victories in series history to 42.
It was Swanson’s third straight USAC Silver Crown victory at Winchester. He has now won the Rich Vogler Classic five times (2016, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024; this Silver Crown event was held elsewhere prior to 2021.) After setting the fastest time in practice with a 14.729-second lap for the half-mile asphalt oval with 37-degree high-banked turns, Swanson captured the Honest Abe Roofing pole with a time of 14.665 seconds, averaging 122.741 miles per hour. In his four career USAC Silver Crown starts at Winchester, he has been the fastest qualifier each time. Finishing behind Swanson was Bobby Santos III, and C.J. Leary.
