As Christians we often find that our greatest battles are with the flesh. Scripture tells us in (Galatians 5:17 N.L.T.) “The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just opposite of what the spirit wants. And the spirit gives us desires that are opposite of what the sinful nature desires.
These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good. “Paul states in Romans 7:15-17 “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do. But what I hate I do. 16. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is the sin living in me. I encourage you to read the chapter in its entirety. But this is the conundrum of attempting to live a holy life.
Thank God that there is a solution, Paul further explains it further down in the chapter in verses 24-25. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to Gods law, but in my sinful nature, a slave to the law of sin. So, it appears that on some level you will be a slave, but the Question is, which law will you be a slave to? The law of sin and death or the law of life eternal with Christ. I choose to be a slave to Christ, and my prayer is, that you will too! God bless you and keep you in perfect peace and love.
