Last Friday, Limaland Motorsports Park celebrated Independence Day weekend with Firecracker Friday and Tribute to “Mr. Excitement” Tim Allison. Kasey Jedrzejek drove the 11N to his first ever Limaland victory in the Great Lakes Super Sprints competition. Dylan Woodling took the win for the second straight week in DIRTcar UMP Modified feature action, and Todd Sherman added to his career win total by grabbing the Thunderstock victory.
At Attica Raceway Park last Friday, it was fan appreciation night to a full house of loud and excited race fans. Many were able to meet their favorite drivers to get pictures and autographs. For the third time this season, Kyle Moore drove his UMP Late Model to victory with Colin Shipley 2nd and JR Gentry 3rd. Cale Thomas won the AFCS 410 Sprint Feature, his third win of the season at Attica! Sharing the podium was Zeth Sabo and Cap Henry. Bryan Sebetto took the checker flag in the 305 Sprints. It was his second win at the track this season. Steve Rando was a close 2nd followed by Logan Riehl 3rd.
It’s official, World of Outlaw fans, NASCAR driver Kyle Larson announced he will return to Attica, Tuesday July 16th to defend his title in the Brad Doty Classic. Larson has won this event in 2020, 2022 and 2023. The winner gets $15,000.00.
Saturday night at Oakshade Raceway the fans were treated to a display of Vintage American Race Cars (V.A.R.C.) These machines that used to race at Bryan Motor Speedway, Avilla and other tri-state tracks took to the dirt and put on few exhibition races in addition to a full racing program with make-up features for the Sportsman and Compacts. The evening was highlighted by Colin Shipley’s late race pass to collect his second DIRTcar UMP Late Model feature win of the year at Oakshade.
BJ Gregory started on the pole of the 25-lap UMP Late Model feature and led the first few laps that were slowed by cautions. The biggest of which was when a portion of the field stacked up on a lap three restart. After that last caution, Casey Noonan would slip on by Gregory for the lead on lap five and led a majority of the race.
Shipley, moved up to second and started to close in on Noonan. The two drivers would have a battle for the lead from lap 10 to lap 21. Shipley was able to get by Noonan with three laps to go and went on to victory. Noonan settled for 2nd, Carter Murday 3rd. Ryan Davis swept both Sportsman feature events after starting on the poles for each. Adam Noonan started on the pole of the Dominator Super Stock feature and led from flag to flag in another caution-free race. The regularly scheduled Compact A-main gave fans one of the most exciting finishes of the night. Nathan Goodman won on a final lap pass. The June 8th make-up Compact A-main was won by Ryan Okuley.
The ½ mile paved Sandusky Speedway oval hosted the Outlaw 350 Supermodifieds. They put on a great show last Saturday. Sawyer Stout picked up his 3rd win in the series this summer. Right behind your winner was Todd Buchanan and Danny Shirey.
On the pavement at Plymouth Motor Speedway with 60 Street Stocks all on the track battling for $10,000.00 first place prize money, it came down to a last lap, exciting three wide finish at the line. Steve Stacy took the win followed by Brock Ganus 2nd and Austin Maynard 3rd.
At Berlin Raceway in Marne MI., Reveal the Hammer Outlaw Late Models took to the high banks. Tyler Roahrig set the fast time but started 16th in the feature and patiently worked his way through the field and eventually caught the leaders. Roahrig took the lead with 15 laps to go when the race leader Brian Bergakker. collided with a lapped car. Then, on what would be the final restart with nine laps to go, Roahrig and Bergakker locked tires, sending Bergakker spinning and putting Hantz into second spot for the final restart. Roahrig got away from Hantz and picked up his 3rd career win in the Outlaw Series. Until next week, keep your wheels down. Ron out!
