Proclamation for “Purple Heart Village” signed by Mayor Duslak

Oakwood Mayor, Mr. Josh Duslak, recently signed a proclamation which made the Village of Oakwood a “Purple Heart Village.” This action makes Oakwood the 76th town in the State of Ohio to be proclaimed a Purple Heart Village on the National Military Order of the Purple Heart Trail.

The purpose of the National Purple Heart Trail is to create a symbolic and honorary system of roads, highways, bridges, and other monuments that give tribute to the men and women who have been awarded the Purple Heart Medal.

The Paulding County Purple Heart Trail project is being coordinated by Jon Lichty who is the Paulding County Veterans Services Officer, and a Life Member of VFW Post 587. Oakwood’s addition is the 7th entity in Paulding County to be placed on the Purple Heart Trail.
