Warriors drop rivalry matchup to Patriots

WOODBURN – For the sixth consecutive meeting, the Heritage Patriots took home a victory over rival Woodlan as the visitors from Monroeville recorded a 28-6 win Friday night outside of Woodburn in ACAC football action.

Nasir Martin scored twice to lead the Patriots to the victory as Heritage improved to 3-0 on the season with the victory. Heritage has outscored its three opponents this season 95-13, including victories over Bellmont and Fairfield in the opening two weeks.

In the rivalry matchup, this is the sixth straight victory for Heritage. The Patriots defeated Woodlan 26-0 last season in regular season play before recording a 25-0 win in the playoff opener.

Heritage also defeated Woodlan in 2022 (32-14), 2021 (37-13) and 2020 (26-19).

Ty Louden completed a 64-yard pass to Shaiden Snyder for the lone Warrior touchdown.

Jake Ley paced Woodlan’s ground game with 39 rushing yards on nine carries while Drew Fleek added 31 yards on eight attempts.

The Warriors finished the night with 136 yards of total offense in the contest.

Woodlan’s defense was paced by Carter Fleek with 13 tackles while Drew Fleek, Eli Funk and Ashtin Jacquay all had eight tackles.

Emerson Spieth picked up five stops as well for the Warriors with Snyder totaling four tackles.

Drew Fleek had the lone sack for Woodlan and added a trio of tackles for a loss.

Spieth and Drew Fleek each picked up a fumble recovery for the Warriors.
