HICKSVILLE – On a rainy and windy night for high school football, visiting Wayne Trace put up two touchdowns and made them stand up in a 12-0 victory over host Hicksville.
The Raiders produced a score in each of the second and third quarters as Wayne Trace posted its second straight shutout of the season.
Cole Morehead had a hand in both Raider touchdowns, scrambling for three-yards to post the initial score of the night and put Wayne Trace on top 6-0 in the second quarter.
Morehead then had a part in the third quarter Raider touchdown as well, connecting with Tyler Head on a two-yard scoring strike that provided the final points of the 12-0 victory.
Wayne Trace ended the contest with 253 yards of total offense compared to 188 for the Aces. The Raiders won the battle on the ground 202-67 but Hicksville had more passing yards, 121-51.
Lance Whitman and Trenton Thomas had 45 and 44 rushing yards, respectively, for the red, white and blue with Cole Morehead recording 40. Cross Zeedyk posted 51 rushing yards for Hicksville.
Garrett Turnbull finished the night 10 of 19 passing with Brant Langham topping the Aces’ receivers with four catches for 41 yards. Austin Sanders, Parker Bassett and Owen Stuckey all had two receptions for Hicksville.
