On Tuesday, September 24th, four Paulding FFA officers traveled down to Columbus for the Ohio Legislative Leadership Conference. The officers included Secretary Brooklyn Schlatter, Reporter Addy Hunt, Student Advisor Blake Rhonehouse, Parliamentarian Johnny Lipps and their FFA advisor, Mrs. Staci Miller.

In the morning, these students mingled with other FFA chapters by playing a game with half of the kids being part of a district and the other half were lobbyists. After the game was over everyone explored the State House, where they met with an aide from Representative Roy Klopfenstein’s office to learn more about his office and Ohio’s government. Right before lunch the students heard from Todd Thatcher, Director of Legislative affairs for ODA.

The chapters were then served lunch met with State FFA officers, and various state representatives. After lunch, members listened to Representative Don Jones, who is state representative for Ohio’s 95th district, talk about his time in FFA and how it has helped him where he is now.

Then everyone heard from the FFA State President, Anna Moeller talk about her experience in FFA.  All of the officers agreed that they learned how important our legislators are to the state of Ohio and what a great experience the Ohio Legislative Leadership Conference was.
