Eldora on the last weekend of racing for 2024. Congratulations to the regular race night (local) track champions. Modified Division was won by Jonathan Taylor and the Super Stock Champion is Doug Drown. The Eldora Speedway Facebook page has a link to the 2024 Tracks Top 25 point standings for both classes.
I appreciate Linda Mansfield updating me on one of the USAC drivers I feature often in my column, Kody Swanson who drives many types of race cars including my favorite the USAC Siver Crown cars, both on pavement and on dirt. Kody Swanson won the 100-lap USAC Silver Crown season finale Saturday night at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park (IRP) to extend his record as the winningest driver in series history with an unprecedented 45 career victories and his eighth series championship.
By adding one more championship to the titles he won in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022, he also set a new record in terms of total championships earned by any one driver in a USAC national series. Who did he surpass? None other than A.J. Foyt, with seven Indy car championships under USAC sanction and Mel Kenyon, who earned seven USAC national midget titles.
Swanson beat Justin Grant in the final point standings for 2024 with the Lebanon, Ohio-based team’s car, which also carries the colors of Glenn Farms and Wilke Orthodontics. Defending champion Logan Seavey finished third in the point standings followed by C.J. Leary and Kyle Steffens.
I’ll have more from Indy next week, as well as Eldora and Waynesfield as they wrap up the 2024 racing season featuring the BOSS Sprints, Dirt Trucks and Sport Compacts.
Fans of the Rumble in Fort Wayne will be happy to learn Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales will return as the title sponsor December 27th and 28th at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, in Fort Wayne Indiana. Two great nights of racing indoors at the Expo Center. This is the 27th year of The Rumble and Jason Dietsch has been the title sponsor since 2017.
If you’ve never attended the Rumble in Fort Wayne, the races are very competitive. The Midgets headline the event with the perfect blend of different types, including National, Kenyon, and Focus. Both nights will feature 600cc Non-Winged and Winged and many classes of Quarter Midgets and Go Karts. For the racing teams and drivers, Thursday, December 26th will be the main practice. Drivers you see weekly in the tri-state and drivers that race nationally make the Rumble a must attend event. Most of these drivers race the Atlantic City Convention Center the week before and January 12th-18th they all head to Tulsa for the annual Chili Bowl Nationals. Until next week, keep your wheels down. Ron out! (Ohio Sports Blitz on Facebook}.
