PAYNE, OH:
Delmar H. Schwab, age 85, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Vancrest of Payne surrounded by his family.
Delmar was born on January 29, 1939 in Paulding County, OH to the late Henry E. and Hazel (Caryer) Schwab. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He spent 9 years on the U.S. Air Force Security Service. On March 22, 1958 he married the love of his life, Karen Riley who preceded him in death in 2014. Delmar worked for Zeller’s in Defiance, OH for 20 years in data processing. He also worked for North American Van Lines in Fort Wayne, IN for 16 years, also in data processing. He was a member of the Payne American Legion and also served in the Ohio National Guard.
Delmar is survived by his children: Jody Denning, Payne, OH; Glen (Kathy) Schwab, Davenport, IA; Glenda (Jerry) Schaefer, Wapakoneta, OH; sister, Donnave Cooper, Napoleon, OH; grandchildren: Ashley (Justin) Armintrout, Jaime (John) Shaw, Gabriel (Maycee) Denning, Joshua (Niki) Denning, Lauren (Aaron) Brown, Meghan (Matt) Ross, Sam (Shannin) Schwab, Chloe Schwab; great grandchildren: AJ, Gracie, Taryn, Tyler, Colton, Larkin, Josie, Annalise, Isabel, and Eleanor.
Delmar is also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mike Denning and brother, Duane Schwab.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Den Herder Funeral Home with Pastor Dwayne Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Payne American Legion Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Den Herder Funeral Home. There will also be visitation from 10:00 A.M. until time of services on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made in Delmar’s memory to the Paulding County Dog Shelter or Everheart Hospice.
