The Paulding community is set to come together on Saturday, December 14, 2024, to support Tiffany and Eric Martinez, a local couple grappling with severe health issues, through a benefit event that promises compassion, camaraderie, and a host of family-friendly activities.
Tiffany Martinez has been battling Type 1 diabetes since she was just nine years old. The disease led to significant kidney damage, necessitating a kidney transplant in 2019. Despite these challenges, Tiffany faced kidney rejection earlier this year and is currently scheduled for a second transplant. She undergoes dialysis for 14 hours a day, rendering her unable to work and more reliant on community support.
Her husband, Eric, has similarly faced critical health setbacks. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Eric has lost vision in his left eye and has been out of work since February 2024. His condition requires frequent treatments at the Cleveland Clinic, adding to the family’s mounting medical expenses.
The benefit, organized by friends and family, will be held at the Paulding VFW located at 214 N Water Street from 2:00 PM until evening. The event will feature a spaghetti dinner, available for a donation, and a variety of activities designed to raise funds and spirits. Attendees can look forward to a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction, music from a DJ, and a bake sale.
The Martinez family, including their two children, 17-year-old Ava and 12-year-old Noah, have expressed profound gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community. “This event is not just about the financial support, which is critical, but also about feeling the strength and love of our community during this tough time,” said Tiffany.
All proceeds from the event will directly support Tiffany and Eric as they navigate their health challenges, ensuring they can focus on recovery and caregiving rather than financial stress.
Community members are encouraged to attend, contribute, and stand with the Martinez family in their time of need.
