Let’s start this week by sending congratulations to Great Lakes Super Sprint driver Max Stambaugh. He was honored to be the 2024 Dayton Auto Race Fans Club, Dirt Driver of The Year. Great Lakes Super Sprints is an exciting traveling sprint series of full sized winged sprint cars that travels the Great Lakes Region racing at local dirt tracks. Zach Wigal with the USAC Thunder Midgets won the Rookie of The Year Award. He’s now racing with the USAC National Midget Series.
ASA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS released their 2025 schedule of 9 events starting January 19th in Cordele Georgia. The ASA/CRA Super Series will make an inaugural trip to Dominion Raceway on Saturday, April 5th alongside the ASA STARS National Tour.
The ASA/CRA Super Series returns to the Midwest on Saturday, June 21st for a return trip to Flat Rock Speedway. Chase Burda won the co-sanctioned event with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour in 2024 en route to his first career ASA/CRA Super Series Championship. In 2025, drivers will have a new racing surface at Flat Rock Speedway.
Anderson Speedway and the Redbud 400 are back on the ASA/CRA Super Series schedule. On Saturday, July 26th the field will try to tackle one of the tightest tracks on the circuit. Canadian drivers have won the Redbud 400 the last two years with Cole Butcher winning the race in 2023 and Kyle Steckly taking the honors in 2024.
The only midday event of the season will be Wednesday, August 20th at Owosso Speedway for the Michigan 300. A co-sanctioned event with the ASA STARS National Tour, last year the event was 100 laps less. Chandler Smith dominated the event, leading the final 37 laps collecting the win by nearly four seconds over Austin Nason and Gavan Boschele.
The Series welcomes back the ASA STARS National Tour for another co-sanctioned event on Saturday, September 13th at Toledo Motor Speedway for the Glass City 200 – won by Casey Roderick in 2024.
Finally, the 2025 season will close out Sunday, October 12th with the 54th Running of the Winchester 400. Cole Butcher took the lead with just over 50 laps to go holding off Ty Majeski and Kyle Steckly for the 2024 win. Then, the ASA/CRA Super Series heads for Nashville for the final non-points event of the season and the Championship finale for the ASA STARS National Tour, the All American 400. A week later than it has been in recent years, the final visit to the Fairgrounds Speedway will be on Sunday, November 9th.
The Rumble in Fort Wayne at the Memorial Coliseum, December 27th and 28th will not run the Legend Cars this year. There wasn’t enough time organize the event on the program. It was a last minute call, but something the powers to be are thinking about adding next year to the packed schedule of Midgets, 600cc wing and non-wing, many classes of Go Karts, Mini Wedges and Quarter Midgets. Until next week, keep your wheels down. Ron out!
