A Call to Repentance

This new year brings us even closer to the Day of the Lord. Every day, we observe prophecies being fulfilled, yet we are too blind to see and recognize that they are unfolding just as they were written—wars and rumors of wars, famines, and earthquakes in various places.

No one cares to hear sound doctrine, but only what their itching ears want to hear. “We the People” are not lovers of God, but lovers of ourselves. We are sometimes harsh, rude, brash, and given to lasciviousness and self-gratifications of the worst kind.

This in itself is a form of drunkenness or sin intoxication. We are divided by race, creed, color sexual orientation, and financial status, just to name a few. Foreign countries own or have a stake in as much of our great land as we do.

If there was ever a time for a New Year’s Resolution, now would be the time! Usually, our resolutions dissolve a few months into the new year. But this year, I pray that the Lord of Host will touch our hearts and bring us into a new mindset. Now is the time to turn away from our sins and seek God’s forgiveness and salvation. Joel 2:12-13 (NIV) states:

“Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.”

Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. We have a God who is so gracious that He is willing to reason with us, to save our souls. Isaiah 1:18-20 (NKJV) states:

“Come now, and let us reason together,”

Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.

If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Will you make this an election sure? Will you lay your sins and your problems at Jesus’s feet today? Will you allow God to fix whatever is broken in your life? I guarantee you, that if you turn it completely over to Jesus, He will fix it. This Year, Let go and Let God. I promise you; it will be the best year of your life!
