PANTHERS TAKE COUNTY RIVALRY MATCHUP

The annual Paulding County rivalry matchup between Paulding and Antwerp took place Friday night in Green Meadows Conference boys basketball action with the visiting Panthers holding off the Archers for a 53-41 victory.
The maroon and white held a slim 14-13 lead at the end of eight minutes of action before widening the gap in the second quarter, outscoring Antwerp 14-10 to push the margin to 28-23 at the midway point.
Paulding added to the lead in the third quarter, picking up a dozen markers compared to ten for the Archers in extending the advantage to 40-33 entering the final stanza.
The Panthers then put the game away in the fourth quarter, picking up 13 points while Antwerp added eight to set the final at 53-41.

Paulding was led in the contest by Kane Jones with 19 markers on the night while Blake Rhonehouse chipped in nine points.
Gannon Parrett and Xander Kuckuck each bucketed seven points for the Panthers with Jalen Manz adding six and Brandon Schroeder posted three. Grady Barton recorded two points as well for the maroon and white.
Zaine McMichael topped the Antwerp effort with 19 points as well and Keegan Gray-Wyckoff finished with nine markers.
Hampton Rogge added eight points for the blue and white with Tavin Sholl picking up the remaining five Archer markers.
RAIDERS STAY ATOP GMC RACE

The Wayne Trace Lady Raiders basketball team improved to 12-4 overall and 4-0 in the Green Meadows Conference with a 58-35 victory over Hicksville Thursday night at the ‘Palace’.
The red, white and blue took control in outscoring the visiting Aces 17-0 in the opening period of the contest and Wayne Trace never looked back from that point forward.
Hicksville did cut into the deficit in the second quarter, pulling within 29-16 at the midway point of the contest.
Wayne Trace, though, responded with a 22-point third period as the Lady Raiders expanded the margin to 51-28 entering the final period.
Lexi Moore topped the red, white and blue with a double-double effort, totaling 15 points to go along with 13 rebounds in the contest. Tianna Sinn bucketed 13 markers for Wayne Trace while adding three boards and three assists with Careen Winans picking up 11 markers, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Amber Stoller finished the night with seven points and two rebounds and Caroline Winans posted seven markers, five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Harper Myers recorded five points, six boards and six steals for Wayne Trace with Kathleen Stoller hauling down two rebounds for the Lady Raiders, who improved to 12-4 overall and 4-0 in the league.
Hicksville was paced by Kennedy Adams with 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals and Devony Mull chipped in a dozen markers, four rebounds, two assists and three steals.
Ashlyn Steury posted six points and two boards with Jocelyn Baldwin picking up a basket and two rebounds. McKenna Rice also hit a free throw and hauled in two rebounds for the Lady Aces, who fell to 5-10 in all games and 0-3 in the conference.
WARRIORS SPLIT IN ACAC TOURNEY

The Woodlan boys and girls basketball teams opened the ACAC tournament on Tuesday with the Warrior boys recording a win while the Lady Warriors fell to Bluffton.
Mason Moore led a trio of Woodlan players in double figures with a dozen markers as the Warriors defeated Bluffton 45-29 Tuesday evening outside of Woodburn.
Oliver Adams chipped in 11 points for the Warriors and Ashtin Jacquay posted ten markers for Woodlan, which improved to 6-6 on the year.
Trey Yoder and Drew Fleek completed the Warrior scoring with eight and four points, respectively.
Woodlan led at every stop in the contest, taking a 12-5 advantage after one quarter before posting a 25-11 advantage at the midway point of the contest. The Warriors took a 32-22 lead into the final period.
Nolan Lambert topped the Tigers with 16 points and Kaleb Green chipped in nine markers. Gavin Grieser also bucketed four markers for Bluffton, which dropped to 5-5 overall on the season.
In girls ACAC quarterfinal play, it was the Tigers that jumped in front after one quarter and cruised to the 67-52 victory.
Bluffton opened a solid 25-7 advantage after one quarter before Woodlan did pull within 33-22 at the intermission. However, the Tigers put the game away in the third quarter in expanding the margin to 52-31 at the end of three periods.
Brooke Kneubuhler topped the Lady Warriors with 17 points and Alyssa Anderson bucketed 16 markers.
Reagan Widenhoefer (seven), McKenna Goble (five), Makenna Smith (three), Alix Jacquay (two) and Savannah Scheumann (two) also scored for Woodlan as the Lady Warriors fall to 10-7 overall.
Bluffton, which improved to 15-2 on the year, was paced by Isabella Stout with 22 points while Konley Ault posted 18 markers and Khloe Dick finished with 14 points.
Maryn Schreiber (seven), Madyson Sonnigsen (four) and Tressa Renner (two) completed the scoring for Bluffton.
ANTWERP WRESTLING AT CRESTVIEW DUALS

Antwerp High School Wrestling made a strong showing at the Crestview Duals, showcasing the dedication and skill of its athletes. Dominic Laker faced tough competition, ending the day with a 1-5 record. Cami McAlexander impressed with a 2-1 performance, including one pin. Kamren Johnson matched McAlexander’s record, also securing a pin in his victories. Braxton Peters competed in six matches and emerged with a solid 4-2 record.
Kaira Jones made an undefeated debut with a 1-0 record, demonstrating promise and potential. Zac Salas was a standout performer, maintaining an impeccable 6-0 record with two pins, proving his dominance on the mat. Skyler Octaviano gave a commendable effort in a series of challenging matches, finishing 2-4 with one pin. Griffin Kosch rounded out the team’s efforts, securing a 3-3 record and achieving two pins.
Maddilan Doster also left an impression with a perfect 2-0 record, further adding to the team’s success. These athletes showcased their talent and determination, making Antwerp proud at this competitive event.
ANTWERP HOSTS WRESTLING DUALS

On a thrilling Senior Night, the Antwerp Junior High and High School wrestling teams faced off against formidable competition, showcasing their skills and determination. The Junior High team hosted Edgerton, Fairview, and Parkway, producing several impressive performances. Cooper Nestleroad stood out with a flawless 2-0 record, earning two pins. Similarly, Jameson Graham matched this feat with a 2-0 record and two pins of his own. Braxtyn Bauer added to the victories with a strong 1-0 showing. Aleta Sorrell demonstrated resilience, going 2-1 with one pin, while Mary Adams rounded off the Junior High successes with an undefeated 2-0 record and two pins.

The High School team, competing against Woodlan and Parkway, also brought their A-game. Dominic Laker achieved a 2-0 record, including one pin. Cami McAlexander contributed with a 2-0 record, and Zac Salas mirrored these accomplishments with two victories and one pin. Skyler Octaviano and Griffin Kosch each maintained perfect 2-0 records, with both earning one pin. Maddilan Doster closed out the High School’s efforts with a solid 1-0 performance.
This special evening not only celebrated the seniors but also highlighted the talent and hard work present across both teams. The dedication and sportsmanship displayed by these wrestlers underscored the spirit of Antwerp’s wrestling program.
