On February 21, 2025, three wrestlers from the Wayne Trace Girls Wrestling Team competed at the Girls Sectionals tournament in Findlay. In the tournament, the top four placers of each weight class advance to the Girls District tournament on March 2, 2025.
Karsyn Troth competed in the 125-pound weight class for the Raiders. Troth won her first match over Vanisa Sinthalaphone from Lima Senior by pin in 2 minutes and 53 seconds. Advancing to the semi-final match, Troth pinned opponent McKenzie Montgomery from Gibsonburg. In the Championship match, Karsyn fell short to Ava Price of St. Marys Memorial with a score of 9-2 finishing as the runner-up.
Aries Ricker also represented the Raider Girls in the 170-pound weight class. In the semi-final match, Ricker was pinned by Holley Schroeder of Gibsonburg in 28 seconds. Advancing to the placement matches, Ricker was defeated by Gabby Bogart of Columbus Grove by pin in 4 minutes and 16 seconds.
Katelynn Bauer ended the day on the mats in fifth place in the 130-pound weight class. Bauer pinned Bella Legere of Elida in 1 minute and 19 seconds. Bauer was then defeated by Ashlyn Wightman of Gibsonburg by pin and then pinned by Rachel Miller of Van Buren. In the placement match, Bauer defeated Bella Legere of Elida by pin in 1 minute and 22 seconds.
For Antwerp’s Lady Archers, coach Christen Bauer stated, “The Lady Archers competed at sectionals last night and although not all matches went the way we wanted, their spirit, tenacity, and GROWTH was on point. These girls never gave up, never let up, and worked for progress every minute on the mat.”
Maddi Doster placed 2nd at 170lb qualifying for the district tournament at Findlay on March 2nd. Cami McAlexander placed 6th at 130lb. Kaira Jones wrestled her best matches of the season but fell short of placement.
At Paulding, the lone lady Panther to advance to Distircts is Civil Pumphrey in the 120 lbs weight class.
